Atheist ?!
Is it necessary to belong to any religion. I once attended an SSB interview (for the Indian Army). I was asked what is my religion. And I replied
“To say, and just to say, I am a Hindu”.
Why ?? You may ask !!
And I will tell you, that why will God, if he created us and all, want us to pray to him, to glorify him, to go to church, mosque or the temple, and remind him, that he is the sole and mighty. Is this not, very mortal ?? The idea of self, of glorification, of being aloof, it sounds so human like.
And they say, if you not go to church, you will be punished. If you not pray 5 times a day, you are sinning !! For anyone who is capable of such diverse imagination, such brilliance, such creativity, would not attach this ‘art’, this wonder, to be subject to glorification by others or the ones he himself has created.
Or he is that master, who whips his slaves and asks them to worship him. And us, like those incapable and helpless souls, who have no option but to worship else we will face calamities in life. For anyone, even the one who has created me, shall not have the right to inflict pain,or harm me, on purpose !! For respect is mutual, it is automatic. And the person who deserves respect gets it. It is not forced on anyone by fear, for he might respect you and respect you with resentment.
I have been in the company of the three major religions, and all of them shun anyone from the person of the other. I am not saying that these people despise people from other religion. But when the issue of religion is brought in front of anyone, anyone from the other religion is just not upto to the mark.
I was once attending a session on Buddhism, and there was this person from U.K. asking my views. I described him in the following precise words,
“I don’t take it (Buddhism) as religion, but a philosophy of living life. “
I think and feel, that this should be the attitude for approaching any religion. And I have clear conviction in my mind, that whatever way we choose, it will only lead to the same power. But in no way, will that power despise us, even if we shun each and all religion. Because, it does not expect glorification from us, he does not need to be reminded that, if he actually exists, is the creator of all. For he knows he is !!
When I told my Friend that I don’t believe in God, she corrected me and said, its not that you don’t believe in God, its just that you don’t approve of the ways to reach him.
Reading this blog, I agree with your Friend. You think you do believe in god, but not the ways to reach him.
I personally believe the concept of god is largely a human construct. But in such matters, we can;t have any set answer, can we?
Friedrich Niestche has said
“God is Dead”
Well, what he meant was God created the world, but now he is dead!!
You are right, we can not conclue convincingly whether God does exist or not.
But, yes either way, I don’t approve of any of the ways commonly used to reach God !!
Well, I like your views on Atheism. But, according to me, it were humans who invented the concept of going to places of worship. And also, it might be possible that it was us who invented the concept of God [Idol Worship]. I believe in God but not that God in which most of them believe. God, for me, is a supreme energy which governs us.
Remember people… humans invented the concept of sin, going to places of worship.
NOTE: I am not violating anybody’s view. It’s an opinion, my opinion.
Well, I believe no one governs us.
Each one of us is like a thread of software, running, free. When we try to access some of the things in life and we don’t get it, we blame it on luck. But it is simply the common case of Semaphores.
We pray to God, for many reasons, but our overall goal is to have success in whatever our objective is.
We humans, are very shrewd. We give control to the other, so that if things do not work out, we won’t be blaming ourselves. And this is why we believe in God. Anything which doesn’t workout, is said only that, God did not wish so!!
I would like to share an example of how and why, when a miracle happens, people say, “Its all because of God’s grace.”
Something you should be knowing before I tell you about what the example is :
In Chennai, there is a church known as Santhome Cathedral Basilica and a huge temple in Mahabalipuram, Chennai. Both these places of worship are just a few kilometers away from the water. So the sea water can actually devastate these monuments if a Tsunami occurred.
As I was having dinner with my parents, I started speaking to them on the subject of religion – about how I don’t believe in any particular God, or in other words – Idol Worship.
And then there is always my mother to say something, indirectly, against my views on topics like atheism, idol worship, homosexuality etc. She cited an example of the Tsunami incident in Chennai. She said, and also I had heard that when the waves hit the coastal plain it affected and devastated many homes and lives, but not in the slightest did it effect nor the sea water came in contact with the Mahabalipuram Temple and Santhome Cathedral Basilica. So her conclusion was that this had happened only because of God’s grace and all that stuff, which she said.
I thought this was ridiculous. And in reply to my mum I said that if this is the case and if this had happened only because of God’s grace then isn’t God’s grace upon this [this is what some people believe, not me] then why didn’t he save those families from Tsunami waves?
Okay, for a better statement –
It is necessary that it all happened because of God’s grace or only because it was a place of worship. I told this to my mom. She stared at me and she wanted my reply to my statement. I, in reply, said that when people go to placed of worship they all go with a positive intention and they think, pray, desire positive. There might be people with negative intentions, very very few. But the those with positive intentions rule out the ones with negative intentions. So when all the people come and do everything positive then sum of each individuals energy gets stored in that place. This might also be the reason as to why we feel good when we go to any place of worship. It’s all because of this positive energy.
So I said that because the total positive energy of the people in these places were in very huge amount, this total positive energy/radiation would have actually prevented the sea water to even come in contact with these places of worship.
But it is only in places of worship and not outside when people think, act, desire positive. Only if they do so, there will be a better world inside this world and then there will happen, MIRACLES, everywhere.
So I believe there in no God. But God, for me, is some kind of natural energy which governs us.
Coming back to why people believe miracles happen only when God wills. Its their notion and they never think the other way round. Some people believe/follow the ‘so called’ religions only because their ancestors had done so but are never ready to think and act independent.

****** No Offence******
Firstly, Its never an offence to speak what you feel in this place.
If I don’t like it, its totally my problem and nothing that you should worry about. You open thoughts are always welcome.
About what you explained, at first thought you may buy it.
But tell me, never has been any Religious place destroyed by natural calamity?
And what is negative energy and positive energy. Negative and Positive is all about perception.
If it is required for me to pray to God, to proclaim that his superior and only then I should be able to live, then I believe that is self glorification in part of God. It is Power abused.
Then what difference would it make between God and the rich bugger, who forces his slaves to praise him else he will make their life miserable.
Well as the saying goes, “Nothing is good or bad, only thinking makes it so.”
Well I do agree to this statement upto an extent.
There are, at times, when we should see what is right and what is wrong.
As for what is positive energy and negative energy:
When people go to places of worship they usually pray and desire something good and hardly their thoughts are evil. They just say and desire good over something, someone.
So most probably they are positive in their thinking, hence they do not think evil at that point of time.
Now that is the positive energy.
If you still haven’t got the point, I dont blame you. It just depends on how you think over something.
Believing in GOD and following a religion are 2 different things. I believe in God but I aint follower of any religion.
”
All the religious leaders be it .Jesus or Guru nanak dev or buddha, taught to love and respect humanity. No one said that they are God and none asked ppl to pray them. It is their followers who started religions in their names and made those rules.
I strongly believe there is a power within me which helps me overcome all adversities of life and I name that power as GOD. For me “GOD is within us, we just need to connect to him
“And I will tell you, that why will God, if he created us and all, want us to pray to him, to glorify him, to go to church, mosque or the temple, and remind him, that he is the sole and mighty. Is this not, very mortal ?? The idea of self, of glorification, of being aloof, it sounds so human like.”
Well I don’t think ‘God’ (any ideal) would have wanted to be worshipped. Infact, I believe it was us, the humans who started the concept of praying because when our human race started existing (the very first group or whatever you may call it), they themselves were astonished as to how they exist and how they are living and how they are not like the other animals. Perhaps, they thought some force existed and they worshipped fire, water, earth… and in the process they created the image of some supreme ‘God’ rather than confine their worship to the fundaments elements of nature. It was enchanting for them to believe that all this ‘just’existed by itself. Not their fault that they invented the concept of ‘God’ and worshipping, I think.
