We Need the World!?
My fellow countrymen are rejoicing for the recognition of the British made movie and the kind of response it is getting. And I wonder why?? Why do we need and Oscar or a Golden Globe to tell us whether a movie is good or not. And even if it is, why should I rejoice?? Is it because there are actors from my country or it is based on my country. Ofcourse, a good work should be appreciated, but why the national euphoria??
Some years back a movie was Banned to shoot in India only to be allowed to be released, that too after it was recognized world over and nominated for in academy awards?? I still don’t understand why Deepa Mehta’s Water faced the struggle it had and why was it allowed to be released after its nomination in the academy awards.
Why do we need the world the tell us what is good or bad, what is art and what is stepping on to people’s ‘feelings’
