Why did the Chicken cross the road??

I wonder why some people cross the road like they are strolling in the park. Is it the joy of feeling that they are invincible?? If they are thinking that way, then I have deep sympathies for them. I remember I was taught how to cross the road, when I was very young, for my safety (and of those who travel on the road).

First you look on your right and then left and then right. Once you are sure that there are no vehicles coming, then you cross the road with a brisk pace.

I wonder if it is that difficult or if it is so much of an exercise that it drains them of their energy!!

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?

A: To show to humans, how it is done!!

Heaven & Hell!!

I got the below FWD mail today

“A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,
‘Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.’

The Lord led the holy man to two doors.

He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man’s mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, ‘You have seen Hell.’ They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man’s mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, ‘I don’t understand.’

It is simple,’ said the Lord. ‘It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.”

I wonder when are we humans are going to understand that we are greedy and selfish, each one of us. And there is no way we can change.

I guess the only moral of the mail is

Being only greedy will take you to hell, but being greedy and knowing how to get what you want will take you to heaven.

I believe thats why all the go-getters are sucessful and happy, yet all those who follow the rule book get left behind!!

The BCCI Monopoly!!

Reading an article yesterday made me think. ICC has said it has a stance on ‘unauthorized’ cricket. BCCI has barred players from playing in the ICL. And all along I was under the impression that BCCI (and ICC for that matter) were there to develop the game. So what is unauthorized cricket??

Why is Ranji Trophy, County Cricket all authorized and why is ICL not?? Just because it is run and organized by people who are not part of BCCI, Or is it because if they allow these ‘unauthorized’ tournaments they will loose out from the multi-billion dollar market of the Indian Cricket.

In the name of developing the game, BCCI has the monopolized the business of cricket. The self-proclaimed authorities of cricket have deemed anything that does not link to them but has revenues as unauthorised. Galli Cricket is not unauthorised, but wide scaled and organised tournaments are!!

Is it just me, that feels this is monopoly and unwarrant abuse of powers (both muscle and money) or it just does not get into me??

Sometimes I just get sick of the way people distort facts, cook reasons, just to make there point!!No matter how invalid it may be!!

Decisions of Life!?

For all those people, who say they have never made a mistake in making decisions pertaining to life, I feel there is something is wrong.

For, one ought to have mistake or else either he was not taking any risks or he does not admit his mistakes.

Everyone has some moments, where on the retrospect one says “I wish I had…” There is nothing wrong in having that feeling. And if we understand this, I believe we would be more satisfied with the way our life has turned out.

Satisfaction is not when you don’t make mistakes, it is when you make mistakes, realise that you have made mistake but still carry forward!!

I thought

Life is all about making mistakes and learning from them!!

The Passion!!

Some years back, when I was a kid (though I still am!!), I used to sit in my balcony and reciting out the names of the vehicles that passed on the road in front of me. Each one, from Datsun to BMW, from Merc to Citroen. But that was some time back. And I guess with time, that interest died down.

I met P. some years ago. He had the passion considerably blown to what I had some time back. Sometimes I would understand him, sometimes I would fail. And now, when I have my bike and he has moved, I feel the ghost is within me.

Spending ours on net, surfing and reading others experience of joy grilling their machines. I feel the urge to hit the road. My hands twitch and my feet want to move.  Yet I remain seated on this chair, at work (and not working), with lame excuses as to why I still remain seated.

I hope I would be able to come out of my cave and hit the road…soon!!
