The State of India!!

The current state of Indian Politics has deteriorated to mere Power Broking and Seat Sharing instead of being for the development of the poeple. As the 2009 Lok Sabha Elections near, every day I read more on which party is wooing which one and what is the current status of Seat  Sharing in the respective states. No where I read to understand what all these parties are promising people, what they offer to do for the development of them. No where I come to read who are the people running for elections and what background they have.

I wonder what will become of my country when the people running it are merely worried about satisfying there allies and other political parties or are busy creating enmity between the various that other co-exist peacefully.

The common man is least worried for the only thoughts that run into his mind are how to meet his ends. Thoughts dilly-dallying between the urge to satisfy his own desires from those of his children. The thoughts hover around sacrificing his next new car for childrens’ next PS3 or their higher education. This again is for the people who we call as the middle-class. Today still the rung lower ones worry about how to get there next meal on time.

The Middle-class, so absorbed in their self-centric thoughts and problems, forget that the decision to prune and choose the people who lead us will not only benefit them, but as lay foundation for the betterment of their future generations. The lower rung, having the dreams are persuaded by the easy availability of  concessions and promises. Things which help, but never in the long term. The rich and super-rich usually unaffected by all these have the money to cajole and manipulate to result in whatever the need is. The population so engrossed in their own mourning don’t bat an eye to the people who proclaim that they be running their country. For every one in his own head has the objective of him(and his family) coming out well at the end of the day. Gujjars rose, Dalits rose, SC/STs rose, just so that they can threaten the clever politicians for their vote banks. Yet I thought we wanted to eradicate the caste system.

Instead of the Nash equilibrium, the self-centric approach,we all have (even the politicians) does not result in anything but providing holes which our clever and opportunistic politician exploit to get and retain power.

The little one had eyes,
which shined bright!
Dreams in them,
eager to embark
on the journey,
he knew if desired
he had the world to own.

My head bend down,
afraid to look into his eyes,
knowing the journey he was
looking forward to,
was ridden with nothing but problems
which were faults of none
other than my own.

Home & Away!!

Behold the age of Globality!! A domestic tournament, with teams based on regional states is now going to happen outside the country. Yes, I am talking about IPL Season 2. Well, from the point of IPL/BCCI and the game of T20 cricket, it is actually a very good and innovative decision. The playing conditions will be radically different from the previous season and hence so can be the results. Out of a very tough situation (read Country’s election and Security concerns), the IPL/BCCI has brought out a blinder.

But the quest of dishing out what the nation craves for, has taken us to new dimensions. Where a domestic tournament is played outside the country. Where the concept of home & away will remain always away. And I wonder how will the team loyalty be build in India. I guess, it will then be that Manchester will be supporting of Mohali and Cambridge be supporting Chennai.

I wonder if we have to check ourselves!!

Incapabilities!!

It takes a lot to understand one’s incapability. More than that, it takes even greater courage to admit it. Is trying hard enough?? Or you need to understand your limitations also. Why do some people think that not taking responsibility is a weakness. It is understandable that not everyone is capable of everything. But not everyone absorbs the fact that one’s limitation can be known to himself or is it that they don’t expect you to be that smart.

But when do you decide if it is your incapability or if you are only giving up??

If you give up today, you will give up any day!!!

Trust!!

Somehow, everyone around you expects that you would be lying. There is no way on earth anyone can be telling the truth, especially when  the confrontation is going to put you on the wrong side of the line.

I wonder where did all the trust went. The skeptism in everything around is certainly a height.

A true story, why I like the Japanese way of living

Once an Indian guy goes into a supermarket in Japan and purchases some stuff. Its a small supermarket, so the till machine does not tender exact change, it is done manually by the till operator at the counter. So when the girl behind the counter counts the money and returns the change, the Indian guys casually starts counting. The Indian realises the girl behind the counter has started to cry.

Later, narrating the story, the guys realises that the girl started to cry because, when the guy started to count the change, it implied that he was checking whether the girl had stole any money or not.

I know, the crying of the girl was a bit excess, but it was something that happened.

In India, if you leave a shop without counting the change received, you are termed a stupid. But it is basically the trust you have on the person behind the counter. And this story, speaks volumes of the trust that each community has within itself.

I think there is a lot we need to learn from our Japanese friends
