The State of India!!
The current state of Indian Politics has deteriorated to mere Power Broking and Seat Sharing instead of being for the development of the poeple. As the 2009 Lok Sabha Elections near, every day I read more on which party is wooing which one and what is the current status of Seat Sharing in the respective states. No where I read to understand what all these parties are promising people, what they offer to do for the development of them. No where I come to read who are the people running for elections and what background they have.
I wonder what will become of my country when the people running it are merely worried about satisfying there allies and other political parties or are busy creating enmity between the various that other co-exist peacefully.
The common man is least worried for the only thoughts that run into his mind are how to meet his ends. Thoughts dilly-dallying between the urge to satisfy his own desires from those of his children. The thoughts hover around sacrificing his next new car for childrens’ next PS3 or their higher education. This again is for the people who we call as the middle-class. Today still the rung lower ones worry about how to get there next meal on time.
The Middle-class, so absorbed in their self-centric thoughts and problems, forget that the decision to prune and choose the people who lead us will not only benefit them, but as lay foundation for the betterment of their future generations. The lower rung, having the dreams are persuaded by the easy availability of concessions and promises. Things which help, but never in the long term. The rich and super-rich usually unaffected by all these have the money to cajole and manipulate to result in whatever the need is. The population so engrossed in their own mourning don’t bat an eye to the people who proclaim that they be running their country. For every one in his own head has the objective of him(and his family) coming out well at the end of the day. Gujjars rose, Dalits rose, SC/STs rose, just so that they can threaten the clever politicians for their vote banks. Yet I thought we wanted to eradicate the caste system.
Instead of the Nash equilibrium, the self-centric approach,we all have (even the politicians) does not result in anything but providing holes which our clever and opportunistic politician exploit to get and retain power.
The little one had eyes,
which shined bright!
Dreams in them,
eager to embark
on the journey,
he knew if desired
he had the world to own.
My head bend down,
afraid to look into his eyes,
knowing the journey he was
looking forward to,
was ridden with nothing but problems
which were faults of none
other than my own.
