I question and give an answer (not a counter-answer). If someone has an opinion they can voice them, counter-argue the answer, or have a different version all together, with various reasons. People are most welcome to share these.

I wonder if the other person is willing to understand also?? Take a second of your life, where you realise that you want something. Now in that second, are content?

The idea is, to look at life from a holistic point of view.

---****-----
Funny, the irony of the situation is, in order for me to explain that the view intended here is holistic, I had to take an example of the most smallest component!!!

You question, you give a counter answer and you argue- where is the space for anyone else’s opinion.
Eg. Of being content for me- from the present situation- this is not exactly a pleasant discussion but I at the moment derive my contentment from the fact that I am learning and getting to know other person’s perspective. But I don’t have to stay with it forever since I have got what I could have from the situation and would prefer to move on. In any case there is no point in arguing when the other person is probably listening to what I am saying but not trying to understand.

PSI was made to understand this is a great platform for sharing views and discussions but thanks for telling me we are here to argue!

The post is an argument!! It is a deviation from the general belief or perception of the society. It is based on some amount of logical reasoning. People can always come and negate the argument with another piece of reasoning.

The overall question is, how can one be content, if he wants something. Are you suggesting, you derive contentment from the fact that you desire something??

Normally, A person would answer the question with Happiness. But, one cannot have all the happiness in the world, because sorrows play a major part in life. They are required to give more money to life. Hence it cannot be the answer of the question. The state of bliss is being satisfied with what you have. And once someone is satisfied, he drops the hunger to desire more. The state where even if given a chance to take more, one won't. Because he is content.

The general perception of being content, being "I am ok with what I have, but I wouldn't complain if given more" is just a disillusion so that many of us are able to pass through the course of life, with less sorrow. But they forget, by doing this, they remain unaware of the overall purpose of life. Instead of giving thought to exactly what they really want in life, they occupy themselves with the materialistic (and to a greater extent phony) objectives in life, and when gaining those objectives, being elated. Yet that elation is only short lived, because we set another target to achieve and then the struggle starts all over again!! After repeating this game of setting targets and achieving them again and again, there comes a time when you ask, What is it that I 'actually' want!!

Every person has different opinions and they are most welcome to share. But, if people are critical and sarcastic, then they should also be willing to be criticized!! If they expect the other to be open, they also should be open themselves.

The game is mutual!! It cannot happen one way !!

My response to the ‘argument’- I thought it was a discussion- anyway you set a goal and aim for a set result and achieving that gives you contentment and if due to reasons you are not able to then that either makes you frustrated or you accept the reality of the situation and are still content with what you got-State of mind, depends from person to person, each one us have their own take at life.
Every second, things change, every second is time gone by- One is never in the same state of mind/life ever- so no question of things becoming stationary or being the same forever, so if I am satisfied it is because of what I have today and it doesn’t mean I have no purpose to look ahead in life now.
State of equilibrium- for me that means, I know how to be satisfied with in the means I have at present- for me the definition of content does not mean I don’t desire anything else, it stand that I know how to derive contentment from and within the situations I have around!
Maybe people should check how to write a polite response or read it again after they have typed it even when they want to have an ‘argument’.

I hope that you understand being the brilliant mind that you are ‘every human being has a different way of thinking and are entitled to their opinions’ and especially on a public platform when we put forward our perspectives- each should be respected, considering someone else appreciated your thought and decided to respond. Wonder what makes people think that if my thought is not in sync with theirs then it is meaningless!!

The argument of this post is.. if you are content with whatever you have, that means you are in a state of equilibrium. What do you want, if you have everything you need.
Meaning, you do not desire for anything (thats what being content means!!).

If you have everything you need, than what the purpose of life. Its like treading a path without any goal!! If you have a goal, that means you desire and want something!!

Maybe, one should put a little bit of thought before typing away the keyboard!!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: I WROTE:

Being content in what you have and finding happiness in it is a state of mind and appreciation towards everything you have- 'good or bad'

Point-2: when there is a straight road ahead, then why stand and wonder if there could be an alternate route to the destination- means there are times in life when we do have a straight road/path in life to walk on, we don't have to try and find some complications in that as well...

Also, for me being content doesn't mean I have nothing to look forward in life and I have reached a dead end.

For me the road of life which is ahead of me is sometimes certain, sometimes it is not, sometimes we have to make it and if there is a road block then find an alternate route… however things are, pleasant or tough I never stand still, I don’t go looking for complications and alternatives when I already have the best choice available to me- I make most of the most, figure out a way to be in it and I am happy doing that, so no need to feel sorry for me!

Difference in ideologies reflect from our perspectives – While you feel sorry for me, I called workings of your mind an art- your way to look at things and I appreciate it..

Imagine you even made my simple statement complicated- What do you want? Is what you have to figure out, because it doesn’t seem you respect those who know how to be content in life!

PS: apologies posted my comment on the wrong post- it was meant for this one!
